Aircrafts queueing for take-off before flying to the city of Palu to send aids On 28 September 2018, a shallow earthquake struck in the neck of the Minahasa Peninsula, Indonesia, with its epicentre located in the mountainous Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi. The quake was located 77 km (48 mi) away from the provincial capital Palu and was felt as far away as Samarinda on East Borneo and also in Tawau, Malaysia. This event was preceded by a sequence of foreshocks, the largest of which was a magnitude 6.1 tremor that occurred earlier that day. Following the mainshock, a tsunami alert was issued for the nearby Makassar Strait, but was called off half an hour later. A localised tsunami struck Palu, sweeping shore-lying houses and buildings on its way. The combined effects of the earthquake and tsunami led to the deaths of at least 1,558 people. Giant Scorpion One-One ( Airbus A400M Atlas ) lifting off to Palu After the disaster, the 4th Aerial Wing "Scorpions" alongside with the Indonesian Armed Forces and the North East Air Force decided to send aids for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. The first flights of the 4th Aerial Wing "Scorpions" aircrafts took off from Iswahjudi Air Force Base on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 09:00PM local time. The operation lasted for a week, which many 4th Aerial Wing "Scorpions" aircrafts came in and out from Palu to send aids. The flights have been able to send tons of medical, clothing, financial, and many more aids to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. The local governer thanked the 4th Aerial Wing "Scorpions" and the Neo-United Nations for sending the necessary aids that were needed on the region.
